As the effects of the coronavirus pandemic continue to be felt across the world, celebrity poker players have decided to raise money for those affected most by the recent crisis through a charity tournament. The players joined hands with Budweiser to help raise & 125,000 for the world central kitchen, a charity that is helping to give meals to the vulnerable families, frontline health care workers, and senior citizens.
A total of six players participated in the event. The event also featured World Central Kitchen founder and chef José Andrés, Mad Men actor Jon Hamm, actor and comedian Kevin Pollak, Spanish NBA All-Star Pau Gasol, and champion surfer Kelly Slater. The King’s Celebrity Poker Challenge, which premiered on CluWPT, was a huge success, and Seinfield actor Jason Alexander won a prize of $50,000.
Even though the event did not favor Pollak, he gave credit to his opponent after losing out on the win. He told WPT’s Lynn Gilmartin that it was a blast, and it was an amazing cause. Besides, he said he couldn’t be more proud of his friend Jason Alexander for taking the trophy.
